Meet Nikki - "Support and celebrate each other’s wins"

Nikki, a proud Kiwi, holds true to her roots, while creating a beautiful life for herself in the heart of Tokyo. Model turned small business owner, Nikki launched Nua to bring foreign women, much like herself, a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere to receive the beauty treatments they needed in Japan. And she has absolutely succeeded in that. Nua was one of the first salons I happily stumbled upon in my search for treatments and every time I visit, I walk away feeling happy and refreshed- thank you Nikki!
Growing up in New Zealand, Nikki’s interest in Japan began at a young age as she studied Japanese in elementary school. She continued her language studies through university and had the fortunate chance to visit Japan through her modeling career in her teenage years. With each visit, she fell more and more in love. And she knew she wanted to create a life for herself in Tokyo. Nikki has now lived and worked in Tokyo for the last 20 years.
Describing herself as motivated, positive and focused, Nikki balances raising her daughter, while managing her salon and a bit of modeling with ease and grace. After finishing the mornings with her daughter and walking her to school, Nikki will get in a bit of exercise, answer emails and schedule appointments before she heads into the salon to greet clients and touch base with her team. After making sure everyone is all prepped for their day, Nikki will then manage the admin side of being a business owner. On occasion, she will have a photoshoot to attend. And as often as she can she tries to meet her daughter on her walk back home from school to spend a bit of time together, before closing the salon for the day.
As we chat about motherhood and growing a business, Nikki is thankful for the community she has around her and the life she and her husband have built in Tokyo. Nikki’s ethos is to be kind and support other women and this is so clear as she has literally brought together a team of women who help other women look and feel their best.
Nikki not everyone is able to make their dreams to relocate to a completely different world a reality. Growing a business, while supporting your community and raising your daughter, your are truly inspiring. Thank you for the oasis you have built in the heart of Omotesando and thank you for taking the time to catch up and chat with me at a moment’s notice! I can’t wait till my next visit to Nua!
Stay inspiring, stay chic.
xx
